🥰The 1937 Texas Half Dollar is a silver commemorative coin issued by the United States Mint to honor the 100th anniversary of Texas’s independence from Mexico, celebrated in 1936. Although the centennial year was 1936, these coins were struck annually from 1934 through 1938.

Obverse Design:
The obverse, designed by sculptor Pompeo Coppini, features a striking depiction of an eagle in front of the prominent Lone Star of Texas. The eagle's wings are spread wide, and the star radiates outward, symbolizing Texas's strength and independent spirit. Surrounding the eagle are inscriptions including “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “HALF DOLLAR,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

Reverse Design:
The reverse shows a frontal portrait of General Sam Houston, a leader of the Texas Revolution, and Stephen F. Austin, the “Father of Texas.” Between the two men is the Alamo, symbolizing the pivotal battle in Texas’s fight for independence. The top inscription reads “THE TEXAS INDEPENDENCE CENTENNIAL,” with “REMEMBER THE ALAMO” boldly at the bottom.
